Liv's 3rd Birthday and Mothers Day

 Dreaming of summer days...

Liv had her 3rd birthday party on Saturday.  I made her a Hello Kitty cake that took about 8hrs to make, start to finish:

A good time was had by all.  The birthday girl really cleaned up on Hello Kitty loot, and especially loved her new HK boombox.  We all had a laugh over the fact that it is a radio/CD player and has a cassette deck in it.  I still have cassettes somewhere, by the way.  It's funny these girls won't know what even CDs are by the time they get involved in purchasing their own music.

The next day was Mothers Day.  I really love the idea of Mothers Day.  Breakfast in bed while your husband and children dote on you lovingly.  Taking the whole day to put your feet up and relax.  Of course, reality is a little different.

Mothers Day isn't like that in our house.  I got up, made pancakes (pamcakes says Cailin) for the troops, and tackled the mountain of laundry that had come out of the holiday trailer.  Which is back in our driveway taking up precious room for the summer (it's not like we'll use the darn thing).  We did a lot of Sunday chores and cleaned the house.  Mom and Dad came in for supper and that was nice.

I don't take a 'Mothers Day' for myself, but I'd like to send a shout out to all the moms out there working hard for your families.  GG and GramE, thank you for all your hard work, then your second round with grandkids, and now in the throes of the third round with great-grandchildren!  We love you and appreciate everything you do for us!

A shout out to all my friends celebrating your first Mothers Day too.  Heh, you have no idea what you're in for.  Enjoy every second with your sweet babies.  They turn into two year olds way too soon. She just peed on me for saying that.  Massive Pullup fail.  Ugh.
